I had no idea what to do. Alan was out of town. I wasn't sure if I needed to call Pax's pediatrician or if I needed to go straight to the ER. I'd never been to the ER before, so I wasn't sure what constituted a visit. I grabbed gobs and gobs of tissue to wipe the incessant blood and as I was thinking through things, I literally walked over to turn off the TV...whhhat? I guess it had to be turned off if we were leaving the house, right? Man, I feel dumb. Next thing, I realize I am going to have to tote 2 kids to the hospital, a bloody one and a baby. So, I quickly tried to call a couple people to see if they could run over and watch Blakely...no luck. At that point, I had thrown a shirt on Paxton (since he runs around the house half naked ALL.THE.TIME), buckled Blakely into her carseat, then we started walking out the door. BUT, before we got out the door, Paxton seriously insisted on getting a Ziploc bag and filling it with cashews and almonds...you know, to snack on while he's getting stitched up? Obviously, he wasn't as concerned as I was about getting him to the hospital immediately. Here I am thinking, "OMG, he's losing so much blood, he's going to pass out!" And here he is thinking, "Man, I'm hungry and who knows how long I'll be at this place, better bring a snack!" Funny kid! On the way there, I called Alan to inform him of the situation. I had to ask him if I should be going to the doctor's office or the ER, he was like definitely the ER. So, we rush there, and the whole time I'm thinking I'll get pulled over, but hey, I have a good reason and would be like, hey cop, look at my kid's head, he's bleeding everywhere! Luckily, we didn't get pulled over though, so that's good. Then we walk in, and the way I thought it'd go down is the nurse rushes Paxton to the back, they apply pressure to the wound as they're running around getting stuff ready, they tell me to stay in the waiting room, I pace back and forth and so on. Nope, here's how it really happened. I run in there pushing Blakely in her stroller with one hand (trying to make it go straight because of the uneven weight I'm putting on it, it keeps veering off to the side) and carrying Pax in my other arm as he's slipping down my side to the point where he's literally just hanging from me...birds are chirping, slow music is playing amongst the quietness of the emergency room, and everyone is calm as can be. They slowwwwllly give me some paperwork to fill out, I scribble my name here and there, probably signing it where it needs to be printed and vice versa, then the lady that is registering us tells me a story about how her grandson fell off a chair and bumped his head and this and that, then she tells us to have a seat and we'll be called in shortly (we're the only ones in there). I guess they're used to this kind of stuff and realize the kid is gonna live. I'm sure next time, I'll be more calm too, now that I know how it works. Lesson learned.
They call Paxton back, take his blood pressure, then tote us off into another room. Everyone was SO nice to us. One of the nurses came in and even asked to hold Blakely, I was like HECK yes, please do, she weighs 100 pounds. Everyone was asking Pax, "Poor thing, what happened? Did you fall and go BOOM?" I was like, "He's 3, you can talk to him like an adult," hahaha, just kidding. There were a lot of "What happened?" questions directed solely to Paxton...I was beginning to wonder if they were testing him to see if he gave the same answer each time, trying to decide if this was really an 'accident'. They seriously were so nice though. Doc comes in, looks at his bloody face, says he's gonna need stitches, so he puts a gel pack on his forehead that numbed it in 30 minutes...no shots of Lidocaine required, how awesome is that?! That 30 minutes of waiting for it to numb seemed like 30 hours, no wait...more like 30 years...especially because the nurse said to keep Paxton as still as possible. How funny is that?! You try to keep two kids entertained for half an hour in a small room full of nifty gadgets...like a bed that goes up and down at the touch of a button and a trashcan you step on to make the lid go up and down and up and down...and not having a place to sit Blakely other than her restraining stroller which does not fly for this girl. I was this close to letting her crawl around on the floor...haha, just kidding, we were in a hospital for gosh sakes, I'm definitely not letting even a bare foot touch the floor. Oh, and I was suppose to not let Paxton eat his cashews and almonds either. Poor kid was starving and kept jumping off the bed to find where I hid the nuts to sneak a bite. Oops, mommy fail! Anyways, his head numbed up, the doc came in and put 4 stitches in. I kept sneaking a peak but had to look away every so often so as not to faint. Pax did great, didn't feel a thing. I was surprised at how much he actually loved being in the hospital...he seriously likes going to see doctors.
After we got home, I showed Paxton his stitches in the mirror. The look on his face was pure pride...I had to laugh.
Here are some pics of his journey:
All bloody, but in good spirits. This is his 'sad' face. Little joker.
He thought his bed was pretty cool. Oh, and he really did yell at the top of his lungs to be funny for this picture. Yay. Call CPS!

I thought he'd enjoy Wendy's for lunch...looks like he did all right!
