Let's Go Camping...scratch that...Let's Go Cabining!

Last year we took a trip with another couple out to Beavers Bend in Oklahoma.  We had such a great time that we thought we'd make it an annual event.  So, this year, we got four couples together and all of our kids (there were 14 of us total) and rented a huge cabin out in the wilderness.  Ok, it wasn't really the wilderness since it was right off the highway, but still.  The Aguilars, Moores, Eliases, and our family went up there.

On the 3 1/2 or so hour drive up, poor little P got carsick and vomited everywhere...and I mean EVERYWHERE!  When we got in, we had to take his whole carseat apart, hose it out, and wash the material.  Poor kid.

The trip was great and the weather was perfect.  We went fishing and hiking during the days, then once the kids went to bed, the adults jumped in the hot tub.  Paxton is definitely all boy.  He would sit in the mud by the lake and during our hike, he stuck his foot (shoe and all) in the river.

I think the highlight of the weekend for the kids was that a black cat appeared at our doorstep the first night we were there.  The guys were out at the grill cooking and decided to feed it.  So, lo and behold, this cat hung out with us the entire weekend.  It would follow us everywhere...to the lake, back up to the house, it would lay out on the patio, and sit by the front door trying to sneak in.  This cat got more attention from these kiddos than it probably has in all it's life.

Yep, this is definitely going to be an annual event!  Good times!

Spidey!

For Halloween this year, Paxton dressed up as Spiderman.  The costume was pretty cool, it had built in muscles which made daddy proud!  It came with a mask that Paxton wasn't too fond of, however, he absolutely LOVED wearing the rest of the costume.  If he saw it sitting around, he'd pick it up and bring it to me to put on him.  Or he would attempt to put his legs through the pants on his own.

We went trick-or-treating with our friends and their kids, Evan and Ashlynn.  Evan is close to Pax's age, and they go to the same nanny, so they're pretty good buds.  We walked up and down one block, taking the kids up to each house.  Paxton didn't quite get what he was supposed to do.  We would walk up with him and he would either try to walk into the person's house or play with whatever they had sitting on their front porch.  He made me carry his candy bag the whole time too...well, except for the times when he would try to reach in there to grab a sucker.  This kid's favorite candy is suckers.  He makes a huge, sticky, drooly mess when he eats them...like the kind where you have to put him and everything on him in the bathtub.  But it's worth it seeing this little guy walking around with a lollipop sticking out of his mouth.

Pax and Evan...best buds

He really wants that sucker!

Pumpkin Patch 2011

We took Pax to this huge pumpkin patch out in Flower Mound.  Pumpkins were scattered across about 10 acres of land.  They had a train, hayride, bouncy houses and a maze made out of hay bales...oh, and a TON of people.  Out of all the fun things to do, Paxton decided that he would devote his undivided attention to a wagon he found.  He would try to push it, pull it, move it, whatever.  He was infatuated and actually got mad at us when we swept him away to go on a hayride!

Keep Austin Weird

*No idea what that means, but I hear it all the time

We went to visit some friends in Austin this past weekend.  We stayed with Nicci, Dave, and thier daughter Olivia.  Olivia is just four months older than Paxton.  It took them a little while to warm up to each other, but that's to be expected when little ones don't see each other for a few months.  We all had such a great time hanging out.  Their mall has a huge inflatable bouncehouse playland.  We weren't sure if the kids would like it much or be afraid to try it out, but they had an amazing time!  Even Alan and Dave got in to jump around...did you expect anything less?

There was also a carousel at the mall.  Pax has never been on one so we were definitely going to get him to go.  And oh my goodness, he LOVED the thing!  At the end, he held onto his horse for dear life.  Looks like we'll be making frequent trips to our mall carousel now.

Chuck E. Cheese's

Chuck E. sketched Daddy and Pax
We met up with my parents, Colby, Jayla, Carsyn and Carlie at Chuck E. Cheese's.  Paxton had only been there once for his cousin's birthday, but he was only a couple months old.  So, this time, he was able to enjoy it!  He absolutely loved riding all the kiddie rides.  His favorite was the cop motorcycle...he kept feeding it tokens to go over and over again.  We'll definitely be going back soon!

Haircut Number 2

I said just a bit off the top!
Paxton started looking like a little orphan, so we decided it was time for another haircut!  I wanted to find a fun place for him to get his hair did because I had a feeling he wouldn't sit still in a normal chair for very long.  So, we found this cute place where they have little cars and trucks for the kids to sit in while they get their hair cut...genius!

When we first got there, Paxton had some time to get acquainted with the place by playing with some toys.  Then, the hairdresser took him to her station and he took a seat in a bright red firetruck!  She put the cape around his neck, which he wasn't too fond of at first, but quickly realized it was going to be ok.  He had his own personal TV with a Thomas the Tank Engine movie playing.  AND, the firetruck even had a bell that he could ring.  Needless to say, Paxton did great and sat still pretty much the whole time.  At the end, the lady opened up a box of lollipops and let him choose one.  Of course he had to pick two though, one for each hand.

Uh-Oh

Uh-Oh is Paxton's new favorite word...well, it's really his only word other than Momma.  I guess Uh-Oh  is technically two words...so let's just say he knows three whole words now.  At this age, the doctor said he should be able to say three to five words.  Phew...looks like he just made it.  He's so advanced.

Pax knows the meaning of Uh-Oh and will generally say it when something is wrong.  For example, the other day, he dropped a toy and said Uh-Oh.  Other times, he will say this when something really isn't wrong.  So, it's kind of like the boy who cried wolf situation where we're really not too concerned that something has gone awry when he says it.  This brings me to last weekend...

Alan and I both had food poisoning so we were pretty much dead to the world all of Saturday.  We laid on the couch as Paxton played with his toys in the living room.  At one point, Paxton started saying Uh-Oh, Uh-Oh.  We brushed it off.  He then said it again and again.  By now I am beginning to think maybe something really is Uh-Oh worthy, so I peeled myself off the couch and went over to see what was up.  This kid wasn't crying wolf this time...something really had happened!  He had his hand down the back of his diaper and number 2 was coming out of it up his back.  Uh-Oh indeed!  The next 30 minutes were occupied by scrubbing, bathing, and a load of laundry.

Maybe next time we'll listen and respond more quickly.  Lesson learned.
